Terry was Born in Manchester in 1935 the eldest of 9 children He left a very crowded council house to join the army.  Marrying a few months later at the age of 20. He saw service in Germany and UK where he qualified as a Military Clerk of Works (E&M). Then gained an Hons degree in Engineering and then sent to Aden on active service in South Arabia to manage a plant workshops for 10 Sqn RE (Roads and Airfields) 1966.

In 1967 with 6 children he purchased his release from the army to save his marriage and became an Assistant Lecturer at Brixton College to no avail.  His wife later divorced him.

He moved on to become a Senior Lecturer at SE London College in Lewisham where he met and later married his lovely wife Anne in 1975. Seeking to get involved in society he was asked to join the board of directors for the Deptford Pension Society and then invited to join the Deptford Rotary Club where he received a Paul Harris award in recognition for his work to eradicate Polio throughout the world.

He has been involved in football throughout his life and had a trial for Liverpool in 1953.  He ran a football league in SW London, had his own team called Brixton Town and later became a disciplinary officer of the Surrey County Football Association.

There thro’ a word of advice from a member he became a Freemason.

Then one Friday morning in 1984 at the age of 49 he had an encounter which changed his life. He retired from playing football when he was 63
